Project DELTA

Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults

Who is this Wiki for?

  • For teachers like me who have just done the DELTA couresework component and are waiting for the exam results (This was when I started the Wiki. Results have arrived by now :) See here).
  • For teachers who are contemplating or have already signded up for a DELTA course.
  • For tutors to give them an idea what expectations and questions prospective DELTA candidates have and to get feedback from former DELTA candidates.

Why a Wiki about DELTA?

  • There are many exam preperation books for our students but no prep books for the DELTA.
  • I've searched the Internet a lot but couldn't find many DELTA-related websites.
  • No matter how much they tell you to prepare well, you come unprepared for what it really is.
  • Because of the time pressure there was not much time to exchange ideas and talk about our experience and opinions. This wiki could become an extension of the course. Candidates who are doing the course or who have finished could meet up here and continue to talk and share.

What I would like to see here?

There are already many blogs and websties with lessons plans or sample assignmets (e.g developingteachers.com).

Here, I would rather like to see:

  • Your feelings about the DELTA (of former candidates, of would-be candidates)
  • How you think your teaching has changed (or why it hasn't changed)
  • Was it worth taking? What do you expect to find in the course? What did you find? What did you miss?
  • Your tips on how to pass/survive the DELTA course
  • For future candidates: What would you like to know about the DELTA and cannot find on the offical pages or on the centre websites? Maybe there are some former candidates who can answer them.

Remember, I have created this Wiki but I hope it will become a platform for many teachers,

tutors and candidates.

I'm looking forward to your contributions. In order to contribute as a writer you need to create a pbwiki.com account and give me your e-mail address that you signed up with (click below on "Contact the owner").

The comment feature is one of the reasons why I switched to pbwiki 2.0.

Just created a DELTA Resources folder. Folders are a great way of organising a wiki. You can put pages into them instead of creating links to them individually on the sidebar or on a page. You can find the folders in the sidebar on the right.

Check out the "Recent wiki activity" on the right to see what has changed recently.

Wiki members have "writer" status and can create and edit new pages and upload files and pictures.

Hi Nergiz,
It is really inspiring to come across someone who has just won the marathon! I have been trying to find some one who has recently done DELTA, but couldn't fine.
I did CELTA in 2006, but haven't got opportunity to use what I learned during CELTA until recently. I have decided at once to go for summer intensive DELTA !!! I don't have any solid theoritical background required during DELTA. Would you please suggest the course of action for me, where should I start from? Congratulation for your admirable work! Keep it up! My course is starting after one and a half month!!! Your quick reply will be appreciated.

Hi Zahid,
Sorry for my very late reply. I've been busy with my MA assignments. You must have started your course by now. I hope you have found some tips from others. All tips I can offer are on my page here: http://project-delta.pbworks.com/w/page/18980262/Nergiz'-DELTA-experience
